Toys and gifts for 2 year olds
Two-year-olds want to move and copy you, so a balance bike, a toy garage, a play kitchen or chunky DUPLO earns its space. Check the age on the box before you buy: magnetic tiles and most scooters are marked 3+.

Best gift overall
1. LEGO DUPLO Classic Deluxe Brick Box 10914
1.5+ · 85 · Storage box with stud lid
DUPLO is the toy most two-year-olds keep coming back to, and this box has enough bricks for a proper build plus a car, figures and number bricks. LEGO marks it 1.5 years and up and everything goes back in the storage box. The bricks will end up all over the house, so it suits a home with a floor you can clear.

2. Umatoll Baby Balance Bike
12-24 months · Aluminium, 1.5 kg · 25 kg
Two-year-olds want to move, and a light balance bike gets them striding and steering before pedals come into it. The listing says the seat suits 12 to 24 months and the aluminium frame weighs 1.5 kg. That age range makes it right for a young or small two; an older two may get more time out of a bigger bike.

Best for car fans
3. VTech Toot-Toot Drivers Fix & Fuel Garage
1 Toot-Toot Stock Car · Repair lift, tuning station, car wash · 6
A multi-level garage with a lift, a car wash and a fuelling stop, plus one talking Toot-Toot car to drive round it. The listing counts six SmartPoint spots that play sounds when a compatible car is parked on them. Only one car comes in the box and the listing gives no age mark, so check the box and expect siblings to want a second car.

Best for copying grown-ups
4. HOLA Musical Toddler Workbench
1-3 years · Hammer, drill, chainsaw, ruler, clamp · Shape sorter, sounds and lights
Hammering, drilling and screwing alongside a parent is exactly the copying two-year-olds love. The listing pitches it at one to three year olds and adds a shape sorter, sounds and lights to the bench and tools. It does not say what batteries the sounds need or whether they are included.

Best for pretend cooking
5. Kidsciety 52-Piece Kitchen Playset
Cuttable play food · 52 · Stainless steel pots and pans
Play food, pots and pans for the toddler who wants to cook whatever you are cooking, and it works with a toy kitchen or without one. The listing counts 52 pieces, steel cookware and food that slices apart and sticks back together. It gives no age mark and includes small pieces such as peas, so check the box and supervise a two-year-old who still puts toys in their mouth.

Best train set
6. Tippi 44-Piece Wooden Train Set
Fits other leading wooden track brands · Battery-powered train with carriage · 44
Track to lay out and a battery train with simple stop and start buttons, which the listing says suits younger children. It comes with a bridge, a station, people and trees, and the track fits the other main wooden railway brands. The listing gives no age mark and does not say whether batteries are included, so check both before it goes under the tree.

How we rank
Chosen from what is selling on Amazon UK in each category on the day we checked, inside the price cap, and only if it was in stock. Ordered by how useful the gift is to the person it is for, then price. We have not handled these products: the write-ups rest on what each listing states. Prices and stock are checked daily.
Prices are Amazon UK and eBay UK at the time we last checked; they move daily, so confirm on the retailer's page. We earn a small commission if you buy through our links, at no cost to you. It never changes the order. More about how we work.
