Gifts for mum she will actually use
Most mums want time and comfort more than things, so give her something that makes the quiet hour better: a heated throw, a Kindle, a photo frame that the whole family can send pictures to from their phones.

Best overall gift
1. BIGASUO Frameo 10.1in WiFi Photo Frame
Frameo · 10.1-inch IPS touchscreen, 1280 x 800 · 32GB · Wall mountable
The frame from the intro: the family installs the Frameo app and sends pictures to her from their phones, with a caption if they like. The listing confirms a 10.1-inch touchscreen, 32GB of storage, auto-rotate and wall mounting. It needs her home WiFi, so set it up on her network or bring the password.

Best for the sofa
2. PROALLER Heated Throw (160x130cm)
Machine washable · 10 levels · 160 x 130 cm · 1 to 9 hours, auto-off
For the quiet hour on the sofa without heating the whole house. The listing confirms ten heat levels, a timer that switches it off after one to nine hours, overheat protection and UKCA marking. It runs from the mains, so it lives near a socket.

Best for readers
3. Amazon Kindle 16GB (2024, without ads)
None · 6-inch glare-free · Up to 6 weeks · 16GB
For the mum who reads every night and has run out of shelf space. The listing confirms a 6-inch glare-free screen, an adjustable light for reading in bed, dark mode and up to six weeks per charge. It is the standard model, not the Paperwhite, and the listing makes no waterproofing claim.

Best for cold mornings
4. EverFoams Memory Foam Slippers UK 5-6
Machine washable · Non-slip · Wool-like, soft lining · 83D memory foam
Warm slippers to replace the pair she has had for years. The listing confirms a wool-like upper, a dense memory foam footbed and an anti-skid sole for a quick step outside. This listing is the UK 5-6 size, so choose hers on the page.

Best for the garden
5. Scott&Co. Flower Seed Variety Pack (30 varieties)
10 perennial, 17 annual, 3 biennial · Bee and butterfly friendly · 30
A gift that keeps going into next summer for the mum with a garden or a few pots. The listing confirms 30 varieties of flower seed, chosen to bring in bees and butterflies. Most will not be sown until spring, so it is a slow gift and wants a good card to go with it.

Best for a quiet hour
6. Neal's Yard Remedies Soothing Aromatic Gift Set
Geranium, lavender, marjoram · 3 · Shower gel, foaming bath, body butter
A known name in bath sets, for the evening she finally gets the bathroom to herself. The listing confirms a shower gel, a foaming bath and a body butter, lightly scented with geranium, lavender and marjoram. The listing does not say how big each bottle is.

Best stocking filler
7. TTRWIN Soy Candle Gift Set (4 pack)
Soy with essential oils · Glass with metal lids · 4 x 100g · About 25 hours each
A cheap, easy extra that makes the quiet hour feel like an occasion. The listing confirms four soy candles of about 25 hours each, in screw-top glass jars she can reuse for storage. The four scents are set by the maker, so it is not the gift for someone with one favourite fragrance.

Best small luxury
8. Vielit Satin Pillowcase (2 pack)
Machine washable · 2 pillowcases plus 2 scrunchies · 50 x 75 cm · OEKO-TEX satin
A pair of satin pillowcases, one of the best-selling small gifts on Amazon UK, and kinder to hair overnight than cotton. It is a modest gift on its own, so pair it with the candle or the throw for a bigger present.

How we rank
Chosen from what is selling on Amazon UK in each category on the day we checked, inside the price cap, and only if it was in stock. Ordered by how useful the gift is to the person it is for, then price. We have not handled these products: the write-ups rest on what each listing states. Prices and stock are checked daily.
Prices are Amazon UK and eBay UK at the time we last checked; they move daily, so confirm on the retailer's page. We earn a small commission if you buy through our links, at no cost to you. It never changes the order. More about how we work.
