Terms of Use and Sale

1. Who we are

This site is run by POLICYANDPLAY LTD (trading as Gear Versus Tech), a company registered in England and Wales, company number 17253846. Registered office: 7 Cosford Drive, Shortstown, Bedford MK42 0DQ, United Kingdom. Email: [email protected]. ICO registration: ZC165321. We are not VAT registered.

2. What this site is

Gear Versus Tech publishes UK tech and gear comparisons. We do not sell retailers' products. When you click through to Amazon, eBay or another retailer, you buy from that retailer under its terms, and it is responsible for the order, delivery, returns and your consumer rights as against it. We earn a commission on some of those sales (see Affiliate Disclosure).

What we do sell ourselves are digital build kits and similar downloads. Section 4 covers those.

3. Using the site

4. Buying a digital kit

What you get. Each kit page describes the contents. Kits are digital: a shopping list, budget tiers and layout notes, delivered as described on the page and in your confirmation after payment.

Price and payment. The price on the kit page is the total you pay in pounds sterling. We are not VAT registered, so no VAT is charged and there are no hidden fees. Payment is taken by Stripe on its checkout page. Kits are one-off purchases. There is no subscription and nothing renews.

When the contract is made. You make an offer when you pay. The contract is formed when we send you confirmation that your payment has been accepted. If something goes wrong with a payment or the price on a page is plainly a mistake, we will tell you and refund anything you paid.

Cancellation and refunds. You have a 14-day right to cancel, which you can lose for digital content if you ask for immediate access and tick the box at checkout. Full details, including faulty or misdescribed kits, are in our Refunds and Cancellation page.

5. Intellectual property

We own the content of this site and the kits, or have the right to use it. When you buy a kit we give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use it for your own home or workspace. You may not resell, share or publish it. Retailer names, logos and product images belong to their owners.

6. Our responsibility to you

We take care over what we publish, but we cannot promise that every price, specification or product detail is current or error-free. We are not responsible for losses that were not reasonably foreseeable, or for business losses, as you are using the site as a consumer. Our total responsibility for a kit is limited to the price you paid for it.

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law. Nothing affects your statutory rights as a consumer.

7. Links to other sites

We are not responsible for other sites' content, prices, service or privacy practices.

8. Changes

We may update these terms. The version that applies to a kit purchase is the one in force when you bought it. If we make a material change that affects something you have already bought, we will tell you by email.

9. Complaints

Email [email protected] and we will reply within 14 days. If we cannot resolve it, you may be able to use an alternative dispute resolution provider.

10. Law and courts

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you can also bring proceedings in your local courts.
