Two mice dominate the competitive FPS scene: the Logitech G Pro X Superlight 2 and the Razer Viper V3 Pro. At 60g and 54g respectively, both disappear in your hand. Both track at 8K polling. Both cost around 100-120 pounds. The difference comes down to shape, coating, and the sensor — and those differences are smaller than ever.
Weight: 6 Grams That Do Not Matter
The Superlight 2 weighs 60g. The Viper V3 Pro weighs 54g. That is six grams — roughly the weight of a single AA battery. In a blind test, no human can distinguish 54g from 60g. If your current mouse weighs 90g or more, either will feel transformative. If you already own a sub-65g mouse, the weight difference between these two is negligible. Do not choose based on weight.
Shape: The Only Decision That Matters
The Superlight 2 uses the same potato shape Logitech has shipped since the G Pro Wireless in 2018. It is a safe, medium-sized ambidextrous shape that fits most hand sizes and most grip styles. It offends nobody. It also excites nobody.
The Viper V3 Pro is lower, flatter, and wider. The hump sits further forward than the Superlight, filling the palm differently. For fingertip and claw grip players, the lower profile means less palm contact and more freedom of movement. For palm grip players with larger hands, the Superlight's fuller rear hump provides more support.
Buy the Superlight 2 if: You use palm grip or have hands over 19cm. Any grip on the Superlight works — it is the safest mouse shape in existence.
Buy the Viper V3 Pro if: You use fingertip or claw grip, or you want the lowest possible profile. The Viper V3 Pro is more manoeuvrable in the fingers.
Sensor: Both Are Overkill
The Superlight 2 uses the HERO 2 sensor at 44,000 DPI. The Viper V3 Pro uses the Focus Pro 35K at 35,000 DPI. Both support 8,000Hz wireless polling. Both track flawlessly at any sensitivity a human uses. Nobody plays at 35,000 DPI. The sensor war is a marketing exercise. Buy the shape you prefer.
Coating and Build
The Viper V3 Pro has a matte, slightly textured coating that resists fingerprints better than the Superlight 2's smoother finish. After a six-hour session, the Superlight shows visible shine from finger oils. The Viper V3 Pro does not. This is the one finish difference worth caring about.
Both mice creak slightly under extreme pressure — squeeze the sides hard and you will hear plastic flex. This is normal for ultralight mice. Neither creaks during normal use.
Verdict
Razer Viper V3 Pro (9.2/10) — the lower shape, matte coating, and slightly lighter build make it our pick for competitive players. Logitech G Pro X Superlight 2 (8.8/10) — the safer shape and legendary reliability make it our pick for anyone unsure about grip style.
